Wow! You not only ran over it, but on a gravel road where it could have gotten punctured! Impressive! 500W is a very respectable amount of solar for most applications. I'll look into it. Thanks for the video. I like your style!
I want to do this but i know nothing about solar, it sounds like a foreign language to me. I try to educate myself watching 👀 videos but i just don't understand it... I thi k I'm gonna just go with a power bank like bluetti or ecoflow with the most volt per panel i can find to fit on the roof of a van
Those systems do make it a lot easier the advantage to making your own system is you will have less limitations potentially that might not even matter to you
What about when it's not outside and u have a self heating battery? Does it have a way to cool it dwn when it's not outside since it has self heat? Does that even pay a part in what going to make it work
I’ve noticed with panels that the efficiency on the stat sheet doesn’t tell you the truth. The only way for me to find out is to lay them out under the same sun. The CIGS panels are slightly larger than silicone but they’re also lighter and I don’t have a bezel. My guess would be nothing beats the throughput of a large house panel because they’re higher voltage but without testing it who knows. Maybe using a light meter would help but I’d love to layout the panels together for a video.
@@NoLimitVanLife yeah, their ability is attractive but before investing I'd like to see the output of them vs. a regular panel. Also, I probably won't be first to jump in and wait on if they delaminate over time. Best of luck with them!
I have a self adhesive 200w bouge on the way, I’m wondering how best to install it over the ridges that run lengthwise on my suburban roof..like..should I try to fill in the gaps between the ridges or just let the panel be uneven as it dips done between the ridges
If you did go through the trouble to create some sort of sheet to stick them on, that will have a half an inch to an inch of space how about that it will help keep the van cool when the sun shining on it but if you’re somewhere, where it’s often cool, then maybe you want the sun to heat up the van I don’t know But I would totally just stick them on there. The more difficult question is whether to run the wires from the middle back front.
Got to ask dumb questions.....What keeps the wind from blowing off.? how to remove for replacement? exactly how many watts total do you have to run what a/c?? Thank you
To produce 700 W most days you’ll need six or seven 200 W panels which should keep a small air conditioner going. if it’s only about 80° outside you’ll need way less power. they are very sticky so they won’t blow off. These are forever panels but if they must be removed they should be scraped off to prevent damage. Hey body shop has chemicals that will dissolve the sticky gummy material
@@NoLimitVanLife you are saying you need1400 watts of solar which produce 700 watts of charging to a ? battery bank to use air conditioning? Any projected lifespan for these panels? Sorry for quetions but I am a newbie wanting to have a cool van for sleeping after a typical day in Florida
@@ziptie7112 Florida when it’s hot and cloudy you’ll have a problem making enough power with solar for air conditioning but if you have a big enough battery it’ll get you through those times

@@NoLimitVanLife YEP, get that!! Still, my SS is $1000/mo!! I’ve gotten a cargo trailer with room to put that on now!! As soon as I get the drill bit for the ‘hole’ I’ll mount it there!!

Thank you for the kind words Greg. It’s pumping out enough juice that I’m not putting out the portable panels as much.
Man I think your dad is helping you out a lot you have a greattttt father there😁
I almost burst out laughing during my first & only colonoscopy. I was high as shit on Entonox (gas an air) when it was over we went to Blackpool.
I’m snagging some soon. Great panels 🤟
Please do! I’ve had them for a long time now and they’re still great making lots of power
@@NoLimitVanLife glad to hear, still my choice when I buy soon.
I got 420 watts out of my 2 200 watt cigs panels around noon.
The way he says MPPT is hilarious, lol.
🤨
You must have spent a lot of time and effort editing this video. About the same quality as your instalation. Also great attitude!
Oh wow thank you very much hummer dude. I’ve cleaned up the insulation in the back. It looks even better.
😂😂
Bonjour merci pour votre vidéo démonstrative du panneau solaire cordialement
Good god you can not series 200 and 100 watt panels together!!! Only same wattage panels can be put in series....
Tell somebody who gives a s***
@s.r5534 Thanks. Now I know who not to watch. 👍
interesting. do you think they would work on the sides for winter sun
For sure I wish I had enough money to cover the van
The cigs are great for head wind installation, they will take rocks like a champ. Professor Hobo shot them and they still worked great.😂
Who edited this video? 😂 it's funny and entertaining at the same time.
Me, the guy in the video edited it

Not fully understanding the question
My concern would be how easy is it to steal?
How could you steal it it’s stuck to the roof if you were able to tear it off quickly it would damage it
How does the efficiency of these panels compare to hard mono panels?
